iBAM

Save the date!
Saturday October 31 & Sunday November 1st

Our history with Halloween in the US is about witches, ghosts and trick-or-treating.  In Ireland, it marks the start of the Celtic New Year.
For the Celts, Halloween was the "feast of the Dead" and a celebration to end summer. Like most celtic traditions, the Catholic Church embraced this holiday but made it Christian.  Ireland would now celebrate All Saints Day on November 1st making October 31st as "All Hallows Eve"

The Irish American Heritage Center is celebrating with a two day books, arts and music festival called iBAM (Irish Books Arts Music).
For more information check out their website www.ibamchicago.com
There will be live music and book signings and readings throughout the weekend.  A full list of the musicians and authors can be found at the website.

This should be the first of a great Irish Halloween tradition at the IAHC!

Celtic Fest in Chicago's Grant Park

Gaelic Storm plays Sunday night at 730

What makes Celtic Fest a unique Chicago Irish event is that it incorporates music and culture from the other celtic nations. The areas represented are Ireland; Scotland; Isle of Man; Cornwall; Wales; Galicia, Spain; and Brittany, France.

The festival is two days long with dance, food, music, and Scottish competitions.
Entrance to the Festival is free!

Highlights this year should be Gaelic storm, the dance stage and of course the food.

The festival is located at 300 S. Columbus Dr. in Grant Park.
